What is Teach Central?

Teach Central is an exciting new program for beginning teachers. The goal is to promote job retention and increase job satisfaction of new educators in eastern North Carolina school districts through telecommunications support.

How does Teach Central work?

Teach Central is free and voluntary. You simply fax your enrollment/registration form to 252-442-2508. An experienced educational professional will contact you and set up a call schedule. (Or, you can choose email as your preferred method of communication.) The subsequent phone calls will provide you the opportunity to talk with an understanding individual who is interested in your experience as a first year teacher. This educator can connect you with master teachers who can offer suggestions and advice as you work through classroom issues. Teach Central supports you with information and opportunities that will assist you with your transition into the teaching profession.

What are the benefits of Teach Central?

Teach Central participants benefit in several ways: emotionally, professionally, and with informational assistance.

Emotional support

Emotional support is provided through scheduled phone calls with an experienced educator. New teachers can discuss their experiences and problems without fear of disclosure. They can receive the help they need to experience success in their first year of teaching.

Professional support

Professional support includes help with managing the classroom, improving organizational skills, dealing with diverse learners, understanding school culture, teaching strategies, and reducing stress. In addition, National Board Certified Teachers will provide help with curriculum questions.

Informational assistance

Teach Central has access to community resource information that may be helpful for new teachers. Teach Central will be able to provide you with helpful community information and opportunities.

How to get started!

1) Ask your ILT Coordinator for an enrollment/registration form or call us toll free: 1-888-927-3230, ext. 256; or (252) 442-3467, ext. 256.

2) Await a telephone call from your Teach Central Representative.

3) Feel free to call us - right now! Teach Central is available Mondays-Thursday from 3pm-8pm.
